Obama Scholarship Encourages Moms to Return to School

Barack Obama’s administration has a new campaign that encourages moms to go back to school. The US government is now offering scholarship grants to mothers who wish to complete their education and earn a degree. Many moms may not be aware of this new policy so now is the best time to learn more about this program and take advantage of it. Although the economy may be suffering from a recession at the moment, this is no reason to postpone going back to school and completing your education. If you are a mom, you should know that this is the best time to earn a degree so that when the job market bounces back, then you will be fully equipped to take on a new career and use your degree. Here are some of the policies introduced under Obama’s term that encourages mothers to go back to school and pursue higher education: Federal Pell Grants The Federal Pell Grant Program provides grants to low-income undergraduate and postgraduate students. It aims to promote access to higher education for everybody. Students can use this grant on more than 5,400 participating postsecondary institutions. In one of Obama’s first bills, the Federal Pell Grant was increased from $4050 to $5100; this is a great opportunity to not miss for single mothers who wish to get a baccalaureate or post baccalaureate degree. In order to apply for this grant, you first choose a degree then an institution that offers it. Once you are all set then you need to fill out and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

With the new simplified process, FAFSA can now be completed and submitted online, this is very helpful for busy working moms who can now apply for grants while at the comforts of their home. Tax Benefits The American Opportunity Tax Credit is a tax benefit that is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 under Obama’s administration. According to it, Moms can credit their tuition and other school related expenses against their total tax liability. Up to 40% of the credit is refundable so mothers can really benefit from the savings. Online Study Grants Aside from the grants and tax benefits mentioned above that moms can use to support their education, there are also several scholarship grants available online. Studying online has become a trend these days especially for single moms or busy working mothers who have no time or have limited resources to leave their children to baby sitters while they go out and attend school elsewhere. This is why earning your degree through distance education and online programs are highly recommended. There are scholarships and grants made just for moms wishing to complete their degree that offer a lot more than the Federal Pell Grants. These financial aids are accessible online through several websites and search engines

The Best Medical Transcription Online Course

I am the mother of two wonderful kids, and I have a loving husband who works very hard to provide for our family. Recently I experienced some cut backs at work. When my husband’s income was cut in half, I realized that we could not afford bills and groceries. I did not realize how scary life could be until I was staring at a stack of unpaid bills and four mouths that still needed to be fed. I would like to be a medical transcriptionist to offer my family security. I know that I was foolish before to think that everything was going to be okay or easy, family is very important and I want to be able to contribute more to mine. There are many advantages to working in the medical transcriptionist field. This work would allow me to keep my kids out of daycare and continue to breast feed my five month old daughter. I know it may seem old fashioned, but I enjoy being able to watch my children grow and develop. My son is two years old and a ball of energy; I never know what he is going to do next. It is not always easy to stay at home with two kids, but it is always interesting. There is also a great future in this field, one that I think Future MT recognizes.

Future MT offers the full service medical transcription online course. From what I have been able to gather from their website, they take care of the students from start to finish and make the entire experience enjoyable. I also like the fact that the Better Business Bureau is confident enough to give Future MT their seal of approval. Future MT offers students medical transcriptionist training from home and supplies everything that the students will need, aside from the computer of course, this is important as so many websites are making people purchase everything individually and at astronomical prices. SN:0TG9Y2ESY I think it is wonderful that Future MT is willing to give scholarships to people who are trying to better themselves; I know that without a full scholarship my husband and I would not be able to afford the tuition.

I realize that this is a great opportunity for me to improve myself and to offer my family the security that they deserve. In a few months I hope to be one of Future MT’s newest graduates. I know that I can be successful, if I am given the opportunity. After I get started, I hope to work my way up and be a major contributing factor to my family’s income in a year or so. In ten years, I would like to be able to have our home paid off and be able to save money for building a house. I realize that the trailer house we are living in is past its prime, but it is the best we can do for now. Being a medical transcriptionist will take a lot of stress off my husband and allow him to spend more time with our kids instead of working as many side jobs as he can to make enough money to cover the bills. I do not want to be rich, nor do I think that this is the way to make a quick buck. I do however, believe that with my hard work and time I can make a comfortable income that will allow us to pay the bills and buy groceries.

I would also like to use this opportunity to set money aside for my children’s education. I realize that any income I earn is money that we would not otherwise have and so, I would try to dedicate as much of it to savings as possible. I also recognize that there will be more times like now when we will need the extra income to cover bills and buy groceries. I never realized how much I valued security until I did not have any.

Discover How Online Scholarship Scams Cheat your Money

Most students who are planning to go to college will try to win a scholarship to fund their study. There are so many students are competing to win those scholarship dollars, scholarship scams have become a booming business. These fraudulent programs do their best to imitate legitimate scholarship programs sponsored by government agencies, charitable foundations, and corporations and try to take money from their victims without giving away any free money. Here are some common techniques used by online scholarship scams to take money from you; get yourself alert and avoid these common online scholarship scams.

Common Online Scholarship Scams Most scholarships scams will try to request money during the application process. You will usually ask to pay for all kinds of fees during the scholarship application process. The scholarship sponsors may charge what they call an application fee, entrance fee, reading fee, judging fee, or administrative fee. You may also ask to pay a processing or handling fee just to receive a copy of scholarship application form or to request more details information about the scholarship.

Other than those kinds of fees, scams may pile on the hidden fees after you have submitted an application. You may receive an email or mail notification saying that you have won a scholarship, but to collect it, you must first pay a “disbursement” or “redemption” fee. A warning alert should be immediate triggered once you receive the message asking you to pay money in order to receive your scholarship award, because no legitimate scholarship program will ask you to pay any money in order to receive money that you have supposedly won.

Do you know that most of scholarships are tax-free? If you do not know, you may fall into the trap of scholarship scam when you are asked to pay for taxes on your scholarship award. Be aware that you only have to pay taxes on a scholarship award if you use the money for other purpose than paying your tuition fee; for example you use the scholarships money to buy a new computer, to pay for room’s rental or spending in paying the cost of traveling from and to the campus. Even if you need to pay taxes for your scholarship award because of these reasons, you should never have to pay federal, state, or sales taxes to organization giving you the scholarship; instead, any required taxes should pay directly to IRS.

Another technique used by scholarships scam that may causes you expose to identity theft, you may be asked to disclose a bank account or credit card number in order to hold the scholarship. Never give out information like this, not even if the sponsor insists it is required to process the scholarship that you have already won. No legitimate scholarship programs would ask for it.

How to Avoid Scholarship Scams? While a few legitimate scholarship programs do charge an entrance or administrative fee, the majority do not charge anything at all. Hence, to be safe, limit your scholarship applications to scholarship programs that don’t charge any fees to apply. If you are asked to pay for any hidden cost after you have submitted your application form, turn your scholarship hunt to elsewhere because there are many other legitimate scholarship programs that are free of charge in application.

Summary To avoid getting taken by scholarship scams, watch out for offers that seem too good and ask you to pay an up front fee. You must approach every scholarship program with caution and limit your application for scholarships that don’t ask you to pay any fee to apply.

Using the internet to find scholarships might not be painful, but it will still be time-consuming. You will probably have to fill out a profile at each site on which you want to search. It is in your best interest to fill out your profile as accurately and as painstakingly as possible. Choose as many options as you can so that you will be given as many matching scholarships as possible. This way, you can weed out the ones you don’t think are worth it.

A simple way to find scholarships online is to google scholarships. This, however, isn’t always going to take you to the most reputable sites. You will be taken to contest sites as well as scholarship sites.

The best way to find scholarships online is through a few reputable scholarship search engines.

studentawards.com

scholarship.com

This scholarship site is worth checking out. Although not as extensive as studentawards.com, it is best to search for as many scholarships as you can.

Be sure to establish the difference between scholarships that are based on your merit and scholarships that are more like contests, or that are based on financial need. Any money is good money, but it’s also nice to know why you deserve that money.

Other places to look online include cfuw.org (the Canadian Federation of University Women) and aauw.org (the American Association of University Women). The Rotary Club (rotary.org) also offers scholarships. Are you involved in any national groups, such as scouting, a church, or a club? Check out their websites too for scholarships you might not even know existed.

Governments often offer quite large scholarships. Check out your municipal, state/provincial, and federal government website to see if there are any awards to which you can apply.

Another place to check for scholarships is with local public broadcasting. Go to cbc.ca or radiocanada.ca or pbs.org or npr.org and search for scholarships to see if there are any salient scholarships. The places to look for scholarships are endless. Online is only one place to look for scholarships (and be sure to add the www. at the beginning of these web addresses!). You can also ask for at your school (and your prospective school’s) office of student awards and financial aid. Don’t be afraid to call around and ask for help. Online scholarship engines are a great way to start looking for scholarships, but they are certainly not the last step in obtaining funding for your education.
